The Tomah Health Community Foundation is teeing up details of this year’s annual golf outing to support area health and wellness projects and organizations. Foundation president Brian Eirschele said this year’s golf outing is scheduled Friday, Aug. 7th at the Hiawatha Golf Club, Tomah.
“We are very excited to continue a 30-year tradition with our annual golf outing, which is our largest fundraising activity to enhance wellness and health in our area,” said Eirschele. He said golfers can register for the 18-hole team scramble, which will include a $1-million shot sponsored by Dean’s Refrigeration and Heating of Tomah, a $25,000 hole-in-one event sponsored by Tap House Twenty of Tomah, and $2,500 putting contest supported by CCF Bank – this year’s outing sponsor. “Thanks to CCF Bank and our other sponsors, the outing has been one of the premiere golf events over the years. “We are looking forward to another wonderful event to support local health and wellness programs and organizations.”
Last year’s event was highlighted when Kirk Hegna of Madison hit a hole-in-one during the outing. His shot on the No. 10, 170-yard hole at Tomah’s Hiawatha Golf Club won him $25,000. He donated $5,000 of the winnings back to the Tomah Health Community Foundation.
Over the past years, Eirschele said the event has helped to financially support activities of the foundation, including– more than $90,000 in education scholarships, while helping various groups like the Tomah Police K-9, Tomah Health Foot Care Clinic, Neighbor to Neighbor Food Pantry of Tomah, Second Harvest Food Bank and Tomah Parks & Recreation. “Our event is most likely the longest running golf outing in the area and continues to be a vital fundraising event for us to continue our local mission,” he said.
Eirschele added that the outing will also feature a silent auction and lucky draw contests, a social hour, and a catered dinner beginning at 5 p.m. He said team registration has been mailed to past teams, but new teams are always welcome to take part.
Registration is due July 17.
