Blood Demand High, Tomah Health Schedules Two Day Drive Nov. 18 & 19

Tomah Health and Versiti Blood Center of Wisconsin officials are asking area residents to help meet an ongoing need for blood by donating Nov. 18 or 19 from noon- 5 p.m. at Tomah Recreation Park, 1625 Butts Ave.

“The Versiti team is thankful to Tomah Health and everyone who takes the time to donate. Every appointment helps ensure blood is available for patients in our community when they need it most,” said Versiti account representative Jackson Braasch.

He said donors will receive an exclusive Wisconsin football-inspired T-shirt as a thank-you for making a lifesaving difference. “We hope the Wisconsin football-inspired T-shirt adds a little extra fun for donors who give hope to their community.”

Versiti is the sole blood supplier to over 60 hospital systems in Wisconsin including Tomah Health.

To donate blood, a person must be in good health, at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and have photo identification. Sixteen-year-olds may also donate with parental consent. While the process for whole blood donation usually takes about one hour, the blood collection itself is usually about 10 minutes.
