Introducing the da Vinci Surgical System

Transforming Surgery

The da Vinci® surgical system will allow us to perform surgeries more efficiently, with less recovery time and less pain. Dr. Jason Collins, D.O., Gundersen Tomah Clinic Surgeon (pictured with Bridget Burbach, Surgery Director)

At Tomah Health we’re excited to announce the addition of the da Vinci® surgical system to our surgery suite. As one of only 60 critical access hospitals in the U.S. with robotic assisted surgery, we are committed to improving patient outcomes for a range of laparoscopic procedures. We are proud to welcome the future of surgery.

During surgery, your surgeon controls daVinci’s four arms using hand pieces on the robot’s console. A 3-D high definition camera provides a detailed and magnified view of the surgical area. The technology in this system allows for precise movements and tighter control during surgery. As a result, daVinci robotic assisted surgery provides minimally invasive options for procedures that have historically been otherwise.

We are currently offering the following procedures with da Vinci surgical system:

  • Gallbladder removals
  • Hernia repairs
  • Bowel resections

Benefits of robot-assisted surgery:

  • Shorter surgery times
  • Small incisions
  • Reduced complications
  • Reduced hospital stay
  • Less pain
  • Quicker recovery period
  • Faster return to normal life
