Tomah Health was one of 208 hospitals nationwide and among 17 in Wisconsin named to the list by Becker’s Hospital Review, an industry-leading print publication for physician communication.
Becker’s compiled the list of hospitals that earned five-star ratings for physician communication in each state, according to CMS’ Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems data. CMS shares 10 HCAHPS star ratings based on publicly reported HCAHPS measures.
The physician communication star rating combines data from three HCAHPS survey questions and summarizes how well patients feel that their physicians explained things clearly, listened carefully to them, and treated them with courtesy and respect. The data was collected between July 2024 and June 2025.
In 2023, 394 hospitals had a five-star rating, compared to 208 this year.
