Tomah Health Surgical Services marked a historic milestone with the 500th Mako Surgical case Jan. 12. Tomah Health began using Stryker’s Mako SmartRobotics™ system to perform total knee, total hip, and partial knee replacements in March 2022.
Tomah Health CEO Derek Daly said the 500th case signaled a remarkable point in time for the hospital. “In partnership with Stryker and Emplify Health by Gundersen orthopedic surgeon Aaron Butler, M.D., we continue to enhance local surgical access by offering innovative robotic technology that allows surgeons to personalize knee and hip procedures,” said Daly. “We especially thank our Surgical Services team for the quality care and to the community for continuing to seek us out for joint replacement surgical care,” added Daly. “We are proud to offer this highly advanced robotic technology in our area.”
