April is National Donate Life Month. Tomah Health coordinates with several organ and tissue donation organizations, including: UW-Organ & Tissue Donation, Lion’s Eye Bank and Versiti Wisconsin.
In 2019, Tomah Health had two tissue donor heroes which saved or improved the lives of 150 people.
Organ and tissue donation programs have been working to increase the number of people who say “yes” to organ, tissue and eye donation. The goal is to reduce the number of people who are waiting for lifesaving transplants and life-improving surgeries.
Consider joining the Wisconsin Donor Registry which legally allows a member to have their organs, tissues and corneas donated upon their death. Anyone with a Wisconsin driver’s license or ID can join the registry, regardless of health history or age.
