The Morrow Home Community in Sparta has acquired three acres of land on the Tomah Health campus to build a 36-unit community-based residential facility (CBRF). Morrow Home Community CEO Daniel Meyer announced the purchase during a media event at Tomah Health July 23. “We are excited to be joining Tomah Health on their campus to care for those individuals in need of long-term care,” said Meyer.
He said discussions with Tomah Health have been taking place for several years. “It’s exciting for our own community because we’ve been in Sparta for over 100 years. So, venturing off our campus for the expansion like this here is actually a great opportunity for us and a great opportunity for Tomah Health.”
The facility will be built on the south side of the hospital campus adjacent to Gopher Dr. with groundbreaking in the spring of 2027 and construction expected to be completed during the winter of 2028.
Meyer said a continued need for long-term care prompted officials to expand. “We have a 40-unit CBRF right now in Sparta, and we actually just added on 12 units to it a year ago, and we still have a waiting list for more people who are looking for long-term care. So, the need is there.”
Tomah Health CEO Derek Daly said the new facility will expand access to long-term care services and serve as a great addition to the existing services provided on the Tomah Health campus. “Our campus was always designed with a long-term care facility presence in mind, and we are excited that Morrow Home Community will be joining us in fulfilling that vision,” added Daly.
He said the project reinforces the hospital’s mission to provide quality care to area residents. “I think it should tell the community that we’re going to continue to be proactive and collaborative to try to keep healthcare close to home and do so in a coordinated fashion with our community partners and other healthcare facilities,” said Daly. “This project won’t just have positive impacts for our campus; it will have major benefits to Tomah and our surrounding area. Our continued campus expansion has the potential to accelerate additional economic growth and development on the south end of our community.”
Morrow Home Community currently operates Bridgepath – Advanced Assisted Living with Memory Care, Morrow Home – Long-term care and transitional care, Creekside, and Marycrest – Assisted living and Parkview – Independent living facilities all in Sparta.
