For the ninth consecutive year, Tomah Health Hospice Touch has been named a 2026 Hospice Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) Honors Award recipient by MatrixCare, a leading provider of CAHPS and bereavement survey programs for home health and hospice agencies.
“This award means so much because it represents the countless moments our team have the privilege to share with patients and their families,” said Hospice & Palliative Care and Social Services director Amanda Burkhalter. “The conversations, the tears, the laughter, the comfort, and the quiet moments of simply being present. I am incredibly proud of a team that consistently goes above and beyond to make patients and families feel supported, heard and cared for,” she added.
The Hospice CAHPS Honors annual program shines a spotlight on high-performing hospice agencies that continuously deliver quality care as measured by patient and caregiver experiences. It is based on satisfaction scores by the CAHPS and exclusively recognizes hospice agencies that have chosen to work with MatrixCare to administer their hospice surveys. Award criteria were based on Hospice CAHPS survey results for an evaluation period of April 2025 through December 2025, a three-quarter period aligned with CMS’s implementation of the revised CAHPS Hospice Survey in April 2025. Hospice CAHPS Honors was awarded to hospices that scored above the MatrixCare National Score on at least 17 of the evaluated questions.
Officials said the prestigious annual review recognizes agencies that continuously go above and beyond in providing high-quality care for patients and compassionate caregiver experiences while acknowledging the highest performing agencies by analyzing the performance of the survey satisfaction and quality measures. “Receiving the Honors Award is an incredible honor and I am especially proud because it not only reflects the high-quality of care being provided, but it also reflects what our patients and families are reporting what they are experiencing every day under our care,” added Burkhalter. “Hospice is not simply a service we provide. It is a commitment to walking alongside patients and families during some of the most vulnerable yet meaningful moments of their life,” she said.
